New and Notable: Gossip

Gossip is a band that confuses me. First, they are listed as both “Gossip” and “The Gossip” in online stores. Then, they are listed under indie rock, alternative rock, college rock, electronic and who knows what other categories.

Gossip is one of those American bands who had to go to the U.K. to get a break. Now, they are ready to release an album under a major label and are getting noticed in the U.S. market.

The new album is called Music For Men and the cover has not yet been added to the AlbumArtExchnage gallery. It reminds me quite a bit of the Morrissey covers from the late 1980s and early ’90s.

The first single from the album is Heavy Heart. It was released on June 15 and the music video is making quite a splash on YouTube. Gossip’s lead singer is Beth Ditto and she’s certainly not another boring Fergie clone. Check out the video and you’ll see what I mean.
