BE by Beady Eye voted best album cover for the week of June 18, 2013

According to our AlbumArtExchange Blog poll, the best album cover for the week of June 18, 2013 is BE by Beady Eye. The cover received 37% of the votes cast by our readers. Kveikur by Sigur Rós was a close second with 33% of the votes. Mac Miller’s Watching Movies with the Sound Off was third with 17%.

The winning cover features a photograph by art and fashion photographer Harry Peccinotti (also known as Harri Peccinotti). The image is a photograph of Peccinotti’s wife that was taken in the late 1960s. The cover was censored with a sticker covering the model’s breast for distribution in the UK. An alternate cover (above right) with the bare breast cropped out of the image has been distributed in some markets.

13 by Black Sabbath voted best album cover for the week of June 11, 2013

According to our AlbumArtExchange Blog poll, the best album cover for the week of June 11, 2013 is 13 by Black Sabbath. The cover received 38% of the votes cast by our readers. Half of Where You Live by Gold Panda was a close second with 31% of the vote. Damage by Jimmy Eat World was third with 15%.

Art direction and design for the winning cover is by the London design agency Zip. The cover features a wicker sculpture by Spencer Jenkins. The sculpture was set on fire and photographed by Jonathan Knowles. Knowles also created a video that documents the creation and burning of the sculpture.

In A Tidal Wave of Mystery by Capital Cities voted best album cover for the week of June 4, 2013

According to our AlbumArtExchange Blog poll, the best album cover for the week of June 4, 2013 is In A Tidal Wave of Mystery by Capital Cities. The cover received 26% of the votes cast by our readers. Desire Lines by Camera Obscura was a close second with 23% of the votes. There was a three-way tie for third place between Megadeth’s Super Collider, …Like Clockwork by Queens of the Stone Age, and The Hurry and the Harm by City and Colour.
