New and Notable: Dragonette’s Merry Xmas (Says Your Text Message)

A few months ago, I believed that Cee Lo Green had put the nail in the coffin of pop songs with the f-word. However, Canadian electronic band Dragonette has taken it one step further with a holiday song that uses the expletive. The single Merry Xmas (Says Your Text Message) is scheduled to be released on November 20, 2012. The song is about the first holiday following a break up. I’m surprised it isn’t a Taylor Swift song.

The cover art for the single features an interesting collage of a Santa hat, hands and a woman’s legs in an exasperated pose. It does a good job of expressing the sentiment of the song.
